Rabbi Avi Taff

School Rabbi
As the school’s spiritual leader, Rabbi Taff coordinates and helps lead tefillah, oversees tikkun olam programming, and spearheads ECC-8th grade Jewish life. He foster strong Jewish identities and infuse derech eretz (kindness, empathy, and respect), neshama (soul) and ruach (spirit) into all that SAA does. Rabbi Avi Taff joined the Sinai community after serving the Valley Beth Shalom community for 13 years. Before becoming a rabbi, he served as a paratrooper in the Israeli army, worked as Youth Educator at Krieger-Schechter Day School in Baltimore and Director of the Special Needs Vocational Program at Camp Ramah in California, and directed a Jewish summer day camp for children with special needs.
 
Rabbi Taff has a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Judaic Studies from the University of Arizona and was ordained by the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies in 2011. Upon his ordination, Rabbi Taff was awarded the Abby Spivack prize in Community Service as well as a Master’s in Rabbinic Literature.
 
He and his wife, Amy, have three beautiful children: Ethan, Eliana, and Noa.

Sinai Akiba Academy is a private Jewish day school in Los Angeles, serving students in Early Childhood through Grade 8. We also offer a variety of parenting classes and programs for children through our Parenting Center. A Sinai Temple school.
